The Gallimore Godkin

Cancer Immunology Lab

Welcome to the Gallimore Godkin Laboratory

The group, consisting of over 15 members, wants to better understand how the immune system works to find new ways of treating disease. For this purpose, we perform bench-to-bedside translational research.

We are particularly interested in understanding:

- What do CD4+ T cells see?

- What do different CD4+ T cell subsets do?

- How does the microenvironment alter the way T cells work?

- How do T cells alter the microenvironment?

The lab is part of the Systems Immunity University Research Institute, the School of Medicine and the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences. We are also part of the Cardiff Cancer Research Hub, a tripartite organisation linking us to all cancer researchers across Cardiff University and our NHS partners at Velindre Cancer Hospital and The University Hospital of Wales.

The lab is part of the Division of Infection & Immunity in the Cardiff University School of Medicine, recently ranked 8th in the UK for the quality of its research. We have long-standing collaborations with clinical staff in the University Hospital of Wales and Velindre Hospital, allowing our research to involve and directly impact patients in the South Wales area.
